PLATE DOT METERS FOR CTP

The DFP 402 and the DFP 406 are compact Dot Meters, battery operated, extremely easy to use and to understand. With high accuracy they measure the dot area of lithographic plates regardless of graining, contrast and colour because of their sophisticated multidirectional reading optical system, detector sensitivity and high resolution unique 10.000 divisions between the printing and the non-printing parts of the surface.

They provide both reflection and transmission (film) dot measurement, so they are not only the ideal calibration tool for any computer to plate system but also the perfect tool for prep room, plate room and pressroom to check if your plate is satisfactory and to pinpoint problems early on and eliminate them before going to press.

With the standard RS-232 interface you can link both the DFP 402 and DFP 406 to a computer for data collection and analysis or to a serial printer. The DFP 402 calculates the dot area using the Murray-Davies equation and is the least expensive dot meter on the market.

The DFP 406 calculates the dot area using the Yule-Nielsen equation to eliminate the effect of optical dot gain. With its specialised software it is very easy to enter the N correction factor for your plate. This can be either manual entry or automatic calculation of the N correction factor.

The DFP 406 is the best for polyester plates, for silver based plate emulsions and for difficult computer to plate materials.

Because of its density function the DFP 406 is recommended also when you have to check plate exposure and development measuring plate density.

Functions:

  • Dot area percentage (positive) - measure dot area on plates and paper
  • Dot area percentage (negative) - measure dot area on reverse image plates
  • Dot area percentages transmission - measure dot are on films
  • Dot comparison between film and plate
  • Density on plates and paper (DFP 406 only)
